A business leader and skilled entrepreneur known for his marketing talents, drive and innovative approaches, Jean-Rock Beaudoin will chair the Centraide Outaouais campaign in 2021. Beaudoin has led Slush Puppie Canada for 13 years. He will now apply his expertise towards a successful drive to help more than 65,000 people who rely on the services of local Centraide agencies.
As the 2020 Personality of the Year of the Gatineau Chamber of Commerce, Jean-Rock Beaudoin is no stranger to civic engagement, having volunteered for the Centre Carmen, the UQO and the Fondation du Cégep de l’Outaouais. Jean-Rock has also published a book on the history of Slush Puppie Canada to benefit Moisson Outaouais. Among the causes he supports is sports, notably through the Slush Puppie Centre, the new home of the Gatineau Olympiques.
“We consider ourselves fortunate to have someone of this stature on board, and we extend a warm welcome to him,” said Murielle Brazeau, Chair of Centraide Outaouais’s Board of Directors. “Without a doubt, Mr. Beaudoin will greatly enhance the Centraide ‘brand’ as he has done so well with Slush Puppie.”
“We look forward to working with Mr. Beaudoin to develop a common vision and campaign plan that will lead to outstanding results,” said Centraide Outaouais Executive Director Nathalie Lepage. “On behalf of the entire United Way team, I offer our full support and collaboration.”
Beaudoin says he had several reasons for accepting the campaign chairmanship. “I was dealt a good hand in life,” he explains. “Now, it’s important for me to give back.”
While he is aware of the enormous challenge in the face of the pandemic, he considers it “an honour” to have been recruited for the task. “Centraide approached me because they needed me now, not sometime later when the crisis will be over,” he says.
“I talked to a couple of friends who preceded me as chair, and as I learned about the organization, I was impressed to see how well the funds are managed. The message I will spread is that Centraide supports well-managed, structured agencies that deliver strong results.”
“I want to be part of the solution, especially now when the needs are so great. Centraide is one of our community bulwarks in these times. Through my involvement with them, I hope to contribute to a healthier and more prosperous community and make help accessible to everyone who needs it.”
