64,650 vulnerable individuals will be helped, thanks to our generous donors
It was with joy and pride that Centraide Outaouais revealed the results of the campaign before close to 200 in attendance at the closing and recognition ceremony. This was also an opportunity to pay tribute to all the volunteers who made the campaign a success through their solid hard work and determination.
“Every year, we work extremely hard to be able to provide assistance to as many people as possible, stated Nathalie Lepage, Executive Director. The need is great, and growing, so we are always looking for ways and means to improve our strategies. Being able to exceed our goal warms the hearts of everyone, mainly because we will now be able to provide help to more of our vulnerable population. I’ve been working with Centraide Outaouais for almost 20 years, and I never cease to be amazed by the generosity and faithful support of our donors.”
The region was affected by tragic events in September 2018; there were the tornadoes that ravaged neighbourhoods inhabited by vulnerable populations who use the services of our supported agencies. Once we established the Fonds SOS Tornade, donors responded generously to our appeal and we were able to raise $262,000 to provide aid to victims of the tornado who are still dealing with a whole host of problems.
“During times of crisis and throughout the year, our agencies deliver essential quality services, remarked Lawrence Cannon, Campaign Chair. Certain areas were destroyed, and services in those areas were limited. We could not have gotten by without the support of our agencies. And I have to extend a warm thank-you to the donors for believing in our mission and that of the network of 80 supported agencies.”
More than 1,000 volunteers were involved through their participation in the 515 workplace campaigns or in the hundreds of fund-raising activities. Some of them have even been involved with Centraide Outaouais for 30 years. From the most senior to the newest recruits, everyone supported Centraide’s mission with passion.
“I have been truly impressed by the devotion of the many volunteers that I have met, especially the members of the campaign team, added Lawrence Cannon. They are tireless ambassadors and I applaud their immense contributions.”
“And included in these dedicated volunteers, there is Lawrence Cannon, our Campaign Chair, noted Nathalie Lepage. Thanks to his reputation, his talents as a communicator and his vast network of contacts, he has been able to open many doors and help make our actions known throughout the entire region. It has been an honour for the entire team to work with him.”
And let’s not forget that it was on April 11, 1944 that Centraide Outaouais was founded. Happy 75th anniversary!

All regions of Quebec are served by a Centraide organization, each one autonomous and managed by an independent board of directors that is representative of its community. Each Centraide takes in donations within its own territory and invests those funds right back into the territory to fight poverty and social exclusion with constant concern for making the greatest impact possible. They support some 1,500 agencies and community projects that provide aid and comfort to close to 1.5 million vulnerable persons in their locality. The Centraides of Québec are also part of Centraide Canada, which includes some 90 Centraide and United Way organizations throughout the country.
