Gatineau, Thursday, March 15, 2018 – Élaine Dupras, Centraide Outaouais’s Campaign Chair, issued an update on the fundraising campaign at the Fitness Challenge event at the Sporthèque today, Thursday, March 15. With two months to go before the campaign closes, Centraide Outaouais has achieved 93% of its $4,600,000 goal, thanks to the generosity of its donors. Ms Dupras encouraged the public to help raise the missing dollars to help 63,670 vulnerable people in the Outaouais. She is confident that with support from the community, the goal will be reached.
Fifty-six teams took part in the Fitness Challenge at the Sporthèque, raising $5,600 in donations to the appeal. Other activities organized by Centraide Outaouais and its volunteers, combined with workplace campaigns now under way, will help to get as close as possible to the goal, but a $165,000 shortfall is nevertheless anticipated. Élaine Dupras has launched an appeal to everyone:
“We are very close to our goal. I would like to issue four challenges today. I call upon 100 companies to donate $1,000 each, 100 local leaders to donate $500 each, and 200 individuals to give from $20 to $100. Those 400 additional donations are all we need to raise another $165,000. The Centraide Outaouais campaign targets the entire community. When you give, you are supporting 70 agencies serving 63,670 children and adults who need your help to overcome poverty and isolation in the Outaouais. You are part of the solution. It is not too late to change lives for life.”
Executive Director Nathalie Lepage adds: “Reaching our goal is important, but in practical terms, it is people in need who will be helped through the agencies and programs we fund. Our allocation teams are now visiting Centraide-supported agencies, and the need is great. The results of this campaign will help many thousands of people. Please be generous. We need your help!”
